Chrissy Teigen Doubled Her Donation to George Floyd Protesters After Fan Posted This Trolling Comment

The death of George Floyd in police custody did not just open the nation’s eyes to the blatant discrimination happening all around us but also prompted unrest among those angered by the death, taking it out on the streets to protest his untimely — and even inhumane — demise. This resulted in the arrest of thousands of civilians who didn’t want to remain silent, but some celebrities leaped to their aid, announcing financial help for the protestors’ bailouts.
The ‘Cravings’ author, Chrissy Teigen, was the first announced on Twitter that she will be donating $100,000 for the bail of those who had been arrested during protests. However, one person lambasted her support for the protesters and even called them criminals and rioters.

Chrissy Teigen/Instagram — Chrissy Teigen doubled her donation
Chrissy, as hilarious as she is, showed her thoughtfulness when she doubled the amount of her pledge because of what the Twitter user said. The model then took to Instagram to encourage her fans to stand in solidarity and express support for the protesters whom she referred to as ‘heroes.’
Celebrity Donations
The outspoken Sports Illustrated Swimsuit stunner was hardly the first to have shelled out money from her own pocket to bail out protesters. Former One Direction member Harry Styles also acknowledged that he has privilege over other people just because of his skintone, but he is not going to sit idly during this war against racism.

Blake Lively/Instagram — Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds donated $200,000
The singer also donated an undisclosed amount to help the jailed protesters and organizers of the march. Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have also pledged $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and urged their followers not just to stay informed and educated about matters like this but also to donate whatever they can.

Justin Lubin/NBC — Jameela Jamil matched Noname’s donation
Noname started a donation chain on Twitter by challenging her celebrity followers to match her $1,000 pledge. Janelle Monae, Kehlani, Jameela Jamil, Yara Shahidi, and 6LACK were up to the cause and donated the same amount.
George Floyd’s Death
Multiple videos of George’s grim death in broad daylight at the hands of the authorities have enraged racial minorities in America. Among the four arresting officers seen in the clip was Derek Chauvin, who had pinned the victim to the ground with his knee on his neck.
The victim was heard pleading and saying he couldn’t breathe. The police officer had him pinned to the ground for more than seven minutes, and by the time he released him, George was already unconscious. According to reports, he was arrested on suspicion that he paid a counterfeit $20 bill at a Minneapolis grocery store.
The four police officers involved were all fired from their posts. Derek was first charged with third-degree murder but was elevated to second-degree after protesters’ clamor. The three others, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Keung, and Tou Thao, are also facing charges of aiding and abetting murder.
