It has been one hell of a year for these former royals! No matter what went on in the Royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle often found themselves caught up in the drama. From their recent documentaries to inside comments from the Royals that are receiving backlash on account of racism, this year has been eye-opening mainly because it hasn’t even been a full year since the death of Queen Elizabeth II. However, it looks like the Duke and Duchess are finally getting some praise for their activism and social work.

Award-Winning Advocacy

The former royal couple received the Ripple of Hope Award at a gala by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Organization. The two were pleased with the accolade and said that a ‘ripple of hope can turn into a wave of change’ after being honored for their philanthropic work in New York.

This award is presented to exemplary leaders from various walks of life, such as the field of politics, advocacy, entertainment, and business. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were awarded for their mental health activism and work toward racial justice. They were recognized alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Despite parting ways with the Royals, the couple has continued their social work.

However, the event was more than just the pair receiving an award. They also took the opportunity to announce a new collaboration between The Archewell Foundation and the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Organization. The Archewell Foundation Award for Gender Equity in Student Film. In their statement, the couple mentioned how they are hoping that with this award, they can inspire a new generation of leadership in the realm of art where diversity and upcoming talent can take the lead and have a platform to be able to voice their stories and be heard.

They continued and stated how the values of the Archewell Foundation and RFK Foundation come together in the name of courage over fear and love over hate. The daughter of Robert F Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, addressed the audience at the ceremony and praised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their bravery and advocacy when it comes to racial justice and mental health issues. She also acknowledged COVID-19 as being one of the leading causes behind increased cases of depression and anxiety.

The Duchess showed up to the event in a white Louis Vuitton gown with a front split, full sleeves, and an off-shoulder neckline. The crowd was stunned to see the Duke and Duchess on the red carpet, looking sharp and Eveready!
